With this collection we wanted to expand the world of Planet Lumi. I felt the creative direction had started to become stale, so I wanted to bring more feeling into the campaign. I drew inspiration from one of my favorite filmmakers, Wes Anderson, borrowing from his whimsical visual style. This led to the idea of a lab and experimentation. The question became how we could communicate our “designed to layer” philosophy in a more mathematical way, almost like a system being tested and refined. The concept of the lab eventually extended beyond the campaign and into our first in person event.

“BLUEPRINT” was our official gallery showcase for the third collection and the first time the brand existed in a physical space. The themes of lab work, systems, and formulas carried into the exhibition, but the event also opened the world of LUMIYRE in other ways. We screened a documentary filmed in Italy with our silversmiths, hosted tattoos by freehand artist Sion Kim, and served complimentary LUMI: tea sourced from China.

The designs in this collection also began to introduce physical symbols of this world. The Gaia pendant represents the planet itself. Other pieces explore symbols that exist within this world, such as the Monde. I think of the Monde as a symbol of the universe we are building, inspired by the phrase “croisée des mondes,” which translates to a crossroads of worlds. It represents the meeting point between our world and the world of Planet Lumi.
