[ Collection 2 ]

Planet: LUMI is our second official collection and the introduction to this world. This universe is where all of our future drops and collections will live, set within a dystopian planet built around conformity. In this world, a mysterious goddess bestows silver as a form of rebellion and expression. As the world grows, we will continue telling different stories across different timelines within this universe.

Planet: LUMI also pushed our creative direction in a way completely different from previous collections. Jewelry creatives have always faced the same challenge: how do you show the jewelry while still highlighting the model? In clothing, the way a model looks, moves, and carries themselves plays a huge role in branding. With jewelry, it often becomes one or the other. If the model’s face is in the shot, the jewelry can easily be overshadowed. This led us to experiment with scale. Instead of thinking of jewelry as something that only exists on the body, we expanded it into objects that models could interact with. The pieces in this collection also move our design language toward something more ethereal and spatial. In the first collection we explored direct representations of light, but here we pushed toward something less literal. What physical ideas represent light? This question led us to space, both outer space and spatial distance. We introduced gemstones for the first time, adding another point of light within the star pendant. The link bracelet references a traditional Byzantine chain while emphasizing the space between the links.

The most important design in the collection is extremely personal. The Calligraphy Ring uses writing from my late grandpa. Before he passed, he had spent years working on a book of his writings that was ultimately censored by the Chinese government and never released. He always wanted his art to be shared, and incorporating his writing into my own medium has always been an internal conflict. No matter how good the intention is, I am still making money from his work. Is it truly appreciation of his writing? In the end, my grandpa devoted his life to providing for our family. We believe he would be proud to see his words live on in my own interpretation, and in a way his art is still supporting the business from beyond this world.
